The City of West Burlington has confirmed that a major water leak will delay the opening of its public pool, which was originally scheduled for Saturday, June 7. A new opening date has not been announced.
City officials say the pool has been losing between 50,000 and 80,000 gallons of water daily. Crews are working to locate the leak beneath the pool deck, but if it’s not found there, they may have to dig into the pool itself.
City Clerk Kelly Fry said they hope the delay will last only about a week, but emphasized the timeline remains uncertain. She acknowledged the inconvenience, especially given the closure of the Burlington pool, and said the city is working to expedite repairs and minimize disruption.
