Fort Madsion, IA- The City of Fort Madison will host a groundbreaking and project update for the fire station and public works building on Friday, December 5th.
The groundbreaking ceremony at the new Fire Station location at 2200 Avenue L will be held at 2 PM, followed by the project update at the Public Works Facility location at 1320 21st Street.
Voters approved the construction of the new fire station in 2024. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2026.
The Fort Madison Public Works Department is currently in the process of construction of a 15,000 Sq. Ft. building for trucks and heavy equipment storage.
Future developments for the Public Works Department include additional parking for staff, locker room, and break room renovations at the current Water Distribution Building for use of staff from numerous areas of Public Works.
