The Iowa Department of Transportation is encouraging farmers to consider enrolling in the Cooperative Snow Fence Program next winter.  Owners who have property along the north and west sides of roadways can get involved in the initiative.  Through the program, the state pays those farmers for eight to 12 rows of corn that is left standing through the winter, helping to keep snow from blowing and drifting across roads.
