
The City of Fort Madison is one step closer to having a new headquarters for its firefighters. Tuesday, the city council awarded the bid contract to build the city’s new fire station to SG Construction of West Burlington for $5,747,578. Then on Friday, the ground-breaking took place at the site of the new station to be built at 2200 Avenue L. According to the hawk eye community members were on hand for the ceremony at the current site of the Fort Madison Public Works building, which is expected to be torn down in March 2026 to make way for the new fire station.
