Burlington Police Department is inviting local residents and workers to get an inside look at daily law enforcement operations through its 23rd Citizens Police Academy, starting Tuesday, Feb. 17. This free, eight-week program is designed to provide community members with a comprehensive understanding of how the department achieves its mission through a mix of classroom and field instruction. Participants will learn directly from BPD officers on a wide array of subjects. The academy also will have hands-on activities, such as weapons instruction, training on a firearms simulator, and a department ride-along with an active duty officer.
