A Burlington woman has been charged after a dependent woman she was caring for died following a fire in July and after several allegations of elder abuse. Audrey Engler, 25, was arrested and charged with intentional dependent adult abuse. The woman had been hospitalized on July 21 after her mattress had caught on fire prior to her death at the Hospice House. Police say the woman had also been bed-ridden and unable to move on her own. The woman had been living with Engler and also paid for the apartment and bills for the apartment while living with her.
