The Wapello Community School District is launching a new Agriculture and Skilled Trades program for high‑school students beginning this semester. The curriculum includes hands‑on training in welding, small‑engine repair, crop science, and livestock management. Administrators say the program was developed in partnership with local employers who are facing workforce shortages in technical fields. The district plans to expand the program next year with additional certifications and community‑based internships.
