The third-floor courtroom of the Des Moines County Courthouse was at capacity, with standing room only as several people spoke both for and against the provisions being considered in an ordinance governing the placement and operation of wind turbines, solar panels and battery storage facilities Tuesday. The Des Moines County Board of Supervisors held the first of three public hearings that are part of the process to codify the ordinance. Several people spoke during the public hearing, both for and against the ordinance. Those wishing to speak were asked to sign up on their way into the courtroom and were limited to two minutes for remarks. The board also limited speakers to those who reside in or own property in Des Moines County.
