A Burlington man was arrested after police say he tried to discard a firearm while running from police last week. Des Moines County Sherrif’s Officials say 20-year-old Trayveon Leroy Jefferson was arrested by the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office and charged with interference with official acts while armed with a firearm after he was pulled over and found not to have a valid drivers license. A Police K-9 later identified the odor of narcotics on the vehicle, after which Jefferson fled on foot. He’s being held at the Des Moines County Jail on $500 bond. A hearing is scheduled for Friday.
