Hancock county officials are issuing an urgent call for citizens to help staff polling places ahead of upcoming local primary elections. Hancock County Clerk and Recorder Holly Wilde-Tillman says precincts are understaffed across the county. Election laws mandate that polling places be staffed according to voting demographics. Polling locations in Hancock are staffed with three Republicans and two Democrats. To become an election judge one must be a resident of Hancock County, 18 years of age, and eligible to vote. Training is provided for those who are inexperienced. It is a paid position.
