A renewable energy site in Wever is wrapping up work on a newly expanded facility.
Construction on Alliant Energy’s Battery Energy Storage System began in May, and the project is expected to become operational later this month.
The facility is located adjacent to Alliant Energy’s existing solar array.
On Wednesday, representatives from Alliant Energy and FlexGen met with local emergency responders to review emergency procedures for the site.
The facility includes nearly 130 battery containers and has the capacity to store approximately 99 megawatts of energy, enough to support about 100,000 homes.
