The Keokuk City Council continued its review of the proposed budget for the 2026–27 fiscal year, holding discussions on funding for the wastewater treatment facility, the Keokuk Public Library, and the overall city budget.
Library Director Monica Winker told council members she included a request for additional building maintenance funds, noting the facility is aging and requires more upkeep.
Utility costs are rising across departments. Water Pollution Control Facility Supervisor Tom Wills told the council that his department’s proposed budget remains largely unchanged from the previous year but noted an increase in fuel costs.
