Court records are providing new details about a violent assault at the Iowa State Penitentiary last month that authorities say nearly turned fatal for two staff members.
29-year old Dennis Lane Lawson and 23-year-old Anthony Sebastian Bauer have each been charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count of possession of weapons in a correctional institution after records indicate the men attacked two counselors who were conducting a class inside the prison with makeshift knife-like weapons, stabbing each multiple times in an attack that didn’t stop until prison guards arrived to restrain the men. Preliminary hearings have been set for later this month.
