Assistant Des Moines County Attorney Trent Henkelvig has announced his candidacy for county attorney.
The Hawk Eye reports that Henkelvig revealed his plans during a recent weekly meeting of the Des Moines County Board of Supervisors. He is seeking to succeed current County Attorney Lisa Schaefer, who is set to retire at the end of the year.
Henkelvig has played a prominent role in board proceedings in recent months, contributing to the development of the county’s ordinance governing the siting and operation of commercial wind, solar, and battery storage facilities.
