A Burlington man was taken into custody Sunday following a shots-fired incident.
21-year-old Kamron Jaquan Elmore was arrested by the Burlington Police Department and charged with reckless use of a firearm, a simple misdemeanor, and assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, an aggravated misdemeanor.
At approximately 10:39 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire in the 1400 block of South Street. While police were en route, dispatchers advised that the suspect — later identified as Elmore — had departed the area in a minivan, according to a press release from the Burlington Police Department.
Officers located the vehicle a short time later near the intersection of Central Avenue and Market Street. A subsequent search of the minivan led to the recovery of a firearm, the release stated.
Elmore was arrested at the scene and transported to the Des Moines County Jail, where he is being held on bond.
Police described the situation as an isolated incident and said there is no ongoing threat to the public.
