The Fort Madison Fire Department responded to more calls last year than they did the year prior. The Daily Democrat reports that the Fort Madison City Council heard this week from fire officials who reported a 13% increase in calls for service in 2025. It responded to a total of 49 fire calls alongside thousands of EMS calls. The department also responded to a number of river rescues. Less than a half million dollars in property damage was lost.
