Charges have been dismissed against a man previously accused in a fatal stabbing in Hancock County on Christmas Eve.

Court records indicate Garrett P. Miller, 34, appeared in court Thursday, where the case against him was dropped. The dismissal was entered without prejudice, allowing prosecutors the option to refile charges at a later date.

The Hancock County State’s Attorney stated the prosecution plans to continue gathering evidence and intends to present the case to a Grand Jury for consideration.

Miller had been charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder with unreasonable justification, and involuntary manslaughter.

Miller was arrested after the Hancock County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported stabbing around 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The victim was a 29-year-old man.
