A Mount Pleasant man is facing several charges after authorities say a domestic dispute earlier this month turned violent while children were inside the home.

Officers with the Mount Pleasant Police Department were called out the night of Feb. 7 to a residence in the 400 block of North Cherry Street following a report of a physical disturbance. Police identified the suspect as Idryss Williams, 35, of Mount Pleasant. According to authorities, Williams allegedly choked the victim during an argument, restricting the victim’s breathing.

Authorities said Williams and the victim have been in a relationship and share three young children. Two of the children were reportedly present during the incident, while a third child was asleep downstairs.

Williams is charged with domestic abuse assault impeding the flow of air or blood, an aggravated misdemeanor, along with two counts of child endangerment. A bond review hearing is scheduled for March 14.
