Property tax levy numbers have been finalized in the City of Fort Madison. The City is asking for a levy $18.84 per $1000 assessed valuation, an increase of 59.5 cents from the current year.
Debt service for the city is set at $1.7 million for 2026-27.
During a meeting Tuesday night the Pen City Current reports that City Council members also ratified a 9% across-the-board pay raise for union staff. The fire department saw an increase of 5%. Non-union staff will see a raise of around 5%.
