The Keokuk Police Department has made two arrests in connection with a vehicle vandalism incident involving gunfire earlier this month in Keokuk, Iowa.

Police say the investigation began March 1 around 5:53 a.m., when officers responded to a report of suspected vandalism. The victim reported hearing what sounded like a firework and later discovered a vehicle window had been struck by what appeared to be a bullet. Officers recovered a spent .22 caliber casing from the roadway.

Officers identified a white sedan seen leaving the area that had been stopped earlier that morning with two occupants: 23-year-old Konnor Gene Alan Meierotto, and 29-year-old Emmanuel Jose Sanchez.

The vehicle was later located at Keokuk Park Apartments and towed. A search of the vehicle turned up an unspent .22 caliber round and a substance believed to be marijuana. Both men were arrested and are facing multiple felony and misdemeanor charges.
