The Lee County Board of Supervisors has approved a plan to address payroll errors after discovering two county employees were overpaid nearly $2,000.

The Daily Democrat reports supervisors voted 4-1 last Tuesday to adopt a policy outlining how future overpayments and underpayments will be handled, with District 3 Supervisor Chuck Holmes casting the lone dissenting vote.

The resolution approved requires employees to pay back overpayments through deductions from later pay periods.

The issue stems from incorrect pay tables that led to two Lee County EMS employees being overpaid $1,153.76 and $787.89 since October 2025. The error was identified by the Lee County Auditor’s Office, and officials agreed the employees were not at fault and would not have been able to detect the mistake through their pay stubs.
