The Burlington Community School District has selected its next superintendent.

Nathan Marting has been chosen to lead the district, pending formal approval by the school board at its March 30 meeting. He will replace current superintendent Rob Scott, who is retiring at the end of the 2025–2026 school year.

Marting currently serves as principal of Burlington High School and has previously worked in the district as an associate principal and middle school principal. He also brings prior experience as a superintendent and director of special education for the Jesup Community School District, as well as a combined superintendent and principal role with the Midland Community School District.

School Board President Anika McVay said Marting stood out among a strong pool of candidates and will help continue the district’s progress. Marting said he looks forward to building on his experience within the district and continuing to support students and staff.

He is set to officially begin his new role on July 1, 2026, and will work alongside Scott during a transition period through the remainder of the school year.
