Leaders from the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport and Contour Airlines say passenger traffic is up and improvements are on the way as air service in the region continues to grow.
The Daily Democrat reports Airport Director Sara Sandburg told Fort Madison Rotarians the Southeast Iowa Regional Airport serves a wide area, including Burlington, West Burlington and Des Moines County, along with several surrounding communities. She said increased passenger numbers are key to securing funding, which has helped drive recent upgrades, with more planned for parking and the entrance road.
Sandburg credited Contour Airlines for meeting expectations since beginning service. The airline connects Burlington to major hub cities, allowing travelers to reach destinations across the country and internationally through partner carriers.
