The Henry County Board of Supervisors addressed staffing changes and a backlog of public records requests during its April 13 meeting, approving two measures related to the County Attorney’s Office.
Assistant County Attorney Steven Giebelhausen announced his resignation effective April 30 under a separation agreement that includes about $26,400 in salary, benefits, and unused vacation payout. Supervisors also approved hiring a temporary, part-time outside attorney at $45 per hour to help manage a growing backlog of Freedom of Information Act requests. County Attorney Becky Wilson said the office is currently handling several outstanding requests, including one involving up to 8,000 pages of documents requiring review and redaction, with plans to bring in attorney Ed Harvey to assist.
