Two new businesses are preparing to open in the 300 block of Jefferson Street in downtown Burlington.
At 312 Jefferson Street, Jerry Johnson will open About the House Home Fashions & Other Cool Stuff on Saturday, May 9. The boutique will feature a curated mix of home décor, garden accessories, artwork, candles, kitchen items, and specialty foods, with styles ranging from traditional to contemporary. The grand opening will include food samples, giveaways, and gift vouchers for early shoppers. Johnson says the store is a longtime dream and will eventually host events like decorating workshops, demonstrations, and themed sales.
Next door at 314 Jefferson Street, Jefferson Street Ice Cream Company is targeting a May 1 opening. Owned by Jason and Jaime Hutcheson, the shop will offer more than 20 flavors of soft-serve and hand-dipped ice cream, along with shakes, malts, sundaes, and floats. The business plans to hire about a dozen part-time employees and operate daily from noon to 9 p.m., with additional menu items expected over time.
