The Fort Madison Fire Department responded to a house fire on Avenue F Wednesday morning. WGEM-TV reports that at 9:50 a.m., firefighters were dispatched to a structure fire in the 1500 block of Avenue F for a report of a fully involved house. When they arrived, Fort Madison firefighters reported seeing fire from the second floor of a two-story house with smoke and flames visible from a bedroom window. All occupants were confirmed to be out of the residence. The Fort Madison Fire Department conducted an investigation and reported that the origin of the fire came from the second-floor bedroom. The cause of the fire is still underdetermined, with an accidental cause considered. The department is evaluating all information, including the potential involvement of an electronic cellular device. The Fort Madison Fire Department recommends caution when charging devices and that you do not place them on upholstered furniture or bedding.
