The Iowa Department of Corrections says a prisoner from Creston who was serving life at the Iowa State Penitentiary died Monday. Forty-seven-year-old Gerald Parker was found guilty of first-degree murder in the shooting death of Jonathan Hoffman of Des Moines. Hoffman’s body was found on a rural Madison County road in July of 2020. Court records indicate drugs were involved. Parker began serving the life sentence in March of 2021. The information from the Department of Corrections does not give a cause of death for Parker.
