Iowa Department of Transportation officials say crews will be working in Southeast Iowa this spring and summer to collect traffic data aimed at helping transportation planners better understand how Iowa’s roads are being used and where future improvements may be needed.

DOT employees will install portable video recording equipment at selected intersections and roadways to count vehicles, track turning movements, and classify traffic patterns. The information will help planners identify traffic trends and prioritize roadway projects.
