The Burlington City Council will discuss a proposed four-percent increase in city sewer and stormwater fees during it’s May 18th council meeting.
City officials said the fee increase, along with revenue generated from the sale of trash tags, helps fund Burlington’s solid waste operations, curbside garbage collection, and recycling services.
The city currently contracts with Des Moines County Area Recyclers for curbside recycling processing and marketing. Under the agreement, the city is billed $4.55 per household each month for the service.
If approved, fees for residential trash carts would increase by 45 cents per month.
