A deputy with the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office is being held in jail while awaiting a court appearance later this month on multiple criminal charges.

Court records show 38-year-old Blake A. Bredeman has been charged in McDonough County with felony disorderly conduct, harassment by telephone, and stalking.

Records also indicate Bredeman allegedly violated an order of protection last week. He was arrested May 5 on a warrant, and a judge later granted prosecutors’ request to keep him detained pending further proceedings.

Sheriff Matt Link confirmed Bredeman remains employed by the sheriff’s office and was placed on paid leave in September due to a work-related injury.

In a statement, Link said the department is treating the allegations seriously and is cooperating with the agency handling the arrest to ensure a “thorough, fair, and impartial review.”
