Old Fort Madison Preservation, Inc. has received a $700,000 pledge from Dana Coffie Rheinschmidt and her brother, Tim Coffie, to support restoration efforts at Old Fort Madison.
The contribution was announced during the organization’s membership meeting and will help fund restoration of the historic fort along with construction of a new Living History Center.
OFMP Board President Bill Napier called the pledge a cornerstone investment for the project and said the donation positions the organization to pursue additional state and local grants, as well as potential financing opportunities if necessary.
According to the organization, the latest commitment raises total fundraising efforts to nearly $1.7 million as OFMP prepares to begin a formal $3.5 million capital campaign.
