
Hamilton police assisted in the arrest of a Keokuk man after a vehicle pursuit on May 11 that began in Iowa and continued into Illinois.
According to Hamilton Police Chief Mike Boley, the Keokuk Police Department requested assistance after a driver failed to stop. Authorities said the pursuit continued through Hamilton before officers used a tire deflation device to bring the vehicle to a stop.
39-year-old Christopher O. Brownlee of Keokuk, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon, both Class 3 felonies, along with aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a peace officer and aggravated assault on a peace officer, both Class 4 felonies.
Police reported a 9 mm handgun and 9 mm ammunition were recovered from inside the vehicle after Brownlee was taken into custody.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be filed.
