A Burlington man is facing a felony drug charge after a traffic stop Saturday night in Des Moines County. Deputies say the stop occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the intersection of Summer and Dodge streets after officers observed an equipment violation.
According to the Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office, a K-9 unit conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted to the presence of narcotics. During the investigation, deputies searched a passenger identified as 60-year-old Terry Eugene Wixom of Burlington.
Authorities say deputies found a bag containing cocaine in Wixom’s pocket. He was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, third or subsequent offense.
