Two excavator buckets reported stolen earlier this month in Henry County have been recovered, saving taxpayers an estimated $15,000 in replacement costs. The equipment was taken from a job site south of Mount Pleasant sometime between June 6 and June 7.
The stolen items included a 60-inch ditching bucket and a 36-inch tooth bucket used on excavators. Because of their size and weight, investigators believed whoever took them would have needed heavy equipment and a way to transport them from the site.
During Thursday’s Henry County Board of Supervisors meeting, County Engineer Jake Hotchkiss thanked Sheriff Rich McNamee and the Henry County Sheriff’s Office for their work on the case. McNamee said the investigation remains active, and authorities have not released details on how the equipment was recovered or whether any arrests have been made.
