The Keokuk Community School District is thanking community members and emergency responders for their quick response following Friday’s school bus crash on Argyle Road. The bus overturned on the outer edge of the district, and passing motorists stopped to help injured students out of the vehicle before emergency crews arrived. The district says the students and bus driver have all been treated and are expected to make full recoveries.
Interim Superintendent Todd Liechty said the response from local, regional and neighboring state emergency personnel, including multiple helicopters, showed the community is prepared to handle a major emergency. Liechty said the district is grateful for everyone who stepped in to help during those critical first few minutes.
