Burlington, Ia (The Hawk Eye)- The Hawk Eye reports that Burlington is receiving an $8.1 million low-interest water quality loan administered by the Iowa Finance Authority and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
The loan is a low-cost construction financing option from a state program aimed at helping Iowa cities with drinking water and wastewater infrastructure projects. In Burlington, the funds will be used for sewer transmission improvements.
Forty-one communities are receiving a combined $123 million. The loan amounts range from $35,000 to St. Olaf to more than $25 million to Fort Dodge.
Mediapolis and Wayland are receiving $100,000 and $180,000, respectively, for sewer planning and design, and West Point has been allotted $1.8 million for sewer treatment improvements.
Planning and design loans are zero-percent loans assisting first-phase project expenses.
