Burlington, Ia – Big Hollow Recreation area is fully booked for Memorial Day Weekend.
Big Hollow was allowed to reopen to the public two weeks ago, and since that time the campground has been full to allowed capacity.
Des Moines County Conservation Director Chris Lee said during the Des Moines County Supervisors meeting Tuesday that people are showing up two weeks in advance to get a spot.
Big Hollow was fully booked for Memorial Day weekend months ago, but there are some non-reservable sites that may be taken for up to 2 weeks.
Lee said there is space at the Welter Recreation Center and the 4th Pumping Ground Station, and that tent camping is available at Big Hollow.
