Ames, Ia- The Iowa DNR is reporting the details of two water rescues this past weekend.
Radio Iowa’s Dar Danielson reports that the DNR says a personal watercraft tipped over on Lake Manawa Sunday and the riders were unable to get it back upright. All were wearing life jackets, but strong winds and waves made it difficult for children to stay above the water. The Council Bluffs Fire Department helped rescue two people — including a six-year-old boy. Also Sunday, three people got stranded on Big Creek Lake near Polk City after one jumped off a rental boat and couldn’t get back. A second person tried to help the first and the third person fell in the water and strong winds blew the boat away. They stayed afloat until a conservation officer was able to help them. None of the people in the two incidents required medical treatment.
