Burlington, Ia- At approximately 6 PM Wednesday the Burlington Fire Department responded to 206 Locust Street for a report of a possible structure fire.
A Burlington Police officer in the area arrived first on the scene and located smoke coming from apartment 3 in the 11 unit apartment building. Firefighters arrived within 3 minutes and extinguished a fire located in the living room.
The apartment’s occupant was not home at the time of the fire. The building sustained an estimated $20,000 in damages to the individual apartment. The fire was discovered by residents of the apartment building responding to working smoke alarms.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation and is not considered suspicious at this time.
