Burlington man charged with attempted murder turns himself in

Fort Madison, IA-  The Fort Madison Police Department has announced the arrest of a Burlington man on an Attempted Murder charge.

According to a news release, on Wednesday, June 23rd, 2021, 34-year-old Roy Michael Garza of Burlington turned himself into authorities at the Lee County Sheriff’s Department for an outstanding warrant for Attempted Murder.

Garza is being held at the Lee County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

The arrest stems from a shots fired incident in the 800 block of Avenue G in February.  No one was injured in the incident but several businesses reported damages.

Two other individuals were arrested in connection with the incident; Tommy Dwayne Ross was arrested for reckless use of a firearm, and Darius Lee Porter was arrested for Attempted Murder.
