Burlington, IA- The Des Moines County Sheriff’s Office has announced criminal charges for two juveniles following a single-vehicle accident.
On Monday, August 16th, 2021, a Des Moines County Deputy observed a silver passenger vehicle going northbound on Highway 61. The vehicle went through Mediapolis at about 80 miles per hour in a 35 MPH zone.
The deputy was able to catch up to the vehicle, but as the deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, it swerved into the northbound ditch and become airborne. The car eventually came to rest back on the roadway.
Both the driver and single passenger in the vehicle were female juveniles from Muscatine, IA.
The driver was charged with Operating While Intoxicated, No Valid Driver’s License and Possession of Alcohol Underage. The juvenile passenger was charged with Possession of Alcohol Underage.
