Burlington, IA- The Des Moines County Treasurer’s Office would like to remind residents of the impending due date for their first-half property taxes.
Those property tax payments are due by Thursday, September 30th. Payments can be made at the county treasurer’s office until 4:30 PM, or online at www.iowatreasurers.com until 11:59 PM on the 30th.
Payments may also be deposited in the Des Moines County drop box, which is located outside of the courthouse on the south side in between the building and parking lot. Drop box payments must be made by 4:30 p.m. on September 30, 2021.
E-checks and credit cards are accepted online. Credit and debit cards are accepted in the office as well. However, there is a service delivery fee for this convenience whether in the office or online.
If remitting by mail, your payment must be postmarked on or before September 30, 2021 to avoid interest, so be sure to check the collection time on the mailbox used to make certain of a timely postmark!
Interest of 1 1⁄2 percent per month will be added to this payment beginning Friday, October 1, 2021.
