Brad E. Carlson, 58, of Oakville, Iowa died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at his home.
Born November 30, 1962 in Burlington, Iowa he was the son of Roger F. and Shirley A. (Anderson) Carlson. He married Christina Lynn Judd on August 29, 2020 in Des Moines County on the Mississippi River.
Brad was a 1980 graduate of Burlington High School and attended trade school.
He worked for Exide Battery for several years until the plant closed. He then became a pipefitter for Local 125.
He was of the Catholic faith.
Brad was a former member of the Eagles Aerie #150 and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed boating, fishing, four wheeling and his dog Maggie. He loved the outdoors, and was a very social person, enjoying his time spent with family and friends. His time spent with his kids and grandkids meant the world to him.
He is survived by his wife Christina Carlson of Oakville; two children, Edana (Kelly) Delagardelle and granddaughter Isabella of Polk City, Iowa and Caleb (Sue Cassiday) Carlson and grandson Camden of Lomax, Illinois; step children, Taryn (Christopher) West and grandchildren Jozlyn, Konnor, and Karson of Stronghurst, Illinois and Darion Benz and grandchildren Aubrey and Reed, and Miranda (Karl) Coleman both of Burlington; three brothers, Dennis Carlson and Tom Carlson both of Burlington and Brian (Nancy) Carlson of Denmark; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one nephew Chad Carlson.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Sunday, October 17th at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends. Everyone is requested to wear their Chicago Cubs or Iowa Hawkeye attire.
In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.

Christopher George Roth, 39, of Salem, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Unity Point Hospitals, Rock Island, Illinois. He was born July 15, 1982 to Gary Wayne and Jane Ann Fisher Roth. Chris was a 2001 graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School. He was a member of Faith Christian Outreach Center where he was baptized and served as an usher.
Over the years, he held several jobs including Dollar General, truck driver, snow removal, and ran carnival rides. He helped set up and tear down the rides when an accident resulted in the loss of his left foot. He also did odd jobs for Sal Alaniz including traveling to Moore, Oklahoma to help with clean-up following the 2013 tornado. Chris did the March of Dimes Walk, volunteered for Old Threshers, the Ghost Train, Steamboat Days, Red Cross, Henry County Fair and was a blood donor. At a time when Ottumwa lost water, he helped by handing out water to people. During school, he participated in Special Olympics, was a bell ringer at Christmas, and loved decorating for the holidays when time permitted. His hobbies included fishing, tae kwon do, doing crafts, car repairs, and bragging about his “found treasures” during spring cleanup. Chris was always helping someone and loved picking on people! Most recently, he spent his time caring for his parents; shopping, chopping wood, and did the driving for them.
Survivors include his mother Jane of Salem; sisters Melanie Stanton of Missouri, Tammy Bencze of Ottumwa, and Crystal (Justin) Wilson of Kirksville, Missouri; brother Gary (Samantha) Roth of Burlington; and fourteen nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father; grandparents; niece Jazmine; five uncles and two aunts.
A funeral service for Christopher and his father, Gary Wayne Roth who died Sunday, October 10, 2021 will be held at 11:00 am, Friday, October 15 at Elliott Chapel, New London with Pastor Monte Knudsen officiating. Burial will follow at Burge Cemetery, New London. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am Friday at the chapel with the family receiving friends from 10:00 until the time of the service. Virginia Frances Morris went home to be with the Lord on October 11, 2021 at the Klein Center in West Burlington, Iowa. She was 97 years old. A memorial service is to be held on October 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine, 2907 Mulberry Avenue, Muscatine, Iowa. Pastor Dan Schoepf will officiate. Burial will follow at Muscatine Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Frances was born on April 26, 1924 in Callaway County, Fulton, Missouri and was the daughter of T. Gordon and Ruth (Glover) Moore. Frances married Robert W. Morris on December 1951 in Wapello. She had worked at the Wapello State Bank prior to her marriage. They moved to the farm near Letts where they resided for 36 years. Her husband called her his “helpmate” on the farm. Frances was an avid gardener and raised beautiful roses. She was also blessed with the gift of hospitality. And she loved to sew, especially for her family! Upon retirement they moved to Muscatine where they lived for 13 years until relocating to Burlington in 2000. Frances was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Muscatine and had been very active in the Letts Methodist Church and the Letts Independent Bible Church for many years. She had attended Oak Street Baptist Church while living in Burlington.
Frances is survived by daughters Sandra (James) Hafner of Sperry and Jennifer (Robert) Hoopes of Letts, grandchildren Michael (Rhonda) Hafner of Letts, Susan (Matt) Carlson of Ankeny and Tara (David) Tornabane of Johnston. Great grandchildren are Thomas (Sarah) Hafner, Nicholas (Kathryn) Hafner, Alyssa (Aaron) Schopf, Braden Carlson, Dominick, Samuel and Isabella Tornabane. Great-great grandchildren are Henry James Hafner and Oliver Francis Hafner.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 2006, her parents and two infant brothers.

William (Bill) Forrester, 79, of Oquawka, passed away at 7:23 PM Tuesday, September 28, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Medical Center in West Burlington.
Bill was born June 6, 1942, in Dekalb, IL. He was the son of Allen Ray and Evelyn Kelley Forrester. On September 11, 1965, Bill married Gwendolyn (Gwen) Casey in Geneva, IL.
Bill started in the workforce as a Garbage Collector. After being injured on the job, he later became a long distance truck driver until his retirement.
Bill could usually be found working in the garage, working in the yard or watching westerns from the comfort of his favorite chair. He also had fun times going to yard sales with the grandkids after retirement. He loved his family and would drop everything to help when needed.
Survivors include his three daughters, Nicol “Nikki” (Tony) Rettig of Burlington, IA. Sonia “Cissy” Forrester Hainds of Oquawka, IL. Billie Jean (Carmella Farrell) Forrester of Chicago, IL.; 6 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; brother, Tim Forrester of New Albany, IN; three brothers-in-law, Ronald Casey, Bud Casey both of Oquawka, IL and Edward Murphy of New Albany, IN; two sisters-in-law, Wanda Casey, Carol Casey both of Oquawka, IL.
Preceded in death by both of his parents and his wife Gwen, his brother’s David Forrester, Terry Forrester, Dennis Forrester, his sister’s Shirley (Forrester) Lawson and Mary (Forrester) Murphy.
Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM with the family to receive friends on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
The memorial service for Mr. Forrester will be 2:00 PM Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Masonic Lodge, 804 North 4th Street, Oquawka, IL following the service. The Masonic Lodge is an alcohol free venue, alcohol will not be allowed.

Rosalee Frisbee , 84, of Burlington, Iowa died at 2:03 am Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Hospice House in West Burlington.
Rosalee was born on March1, 1937, in Shelbina, Missouri. She was the second daughter of Paul and Hazel Knapp Richards. Rosalee married Claude M. Frisbee on Christmas day, December 25, 1955 in Shelbina, Missouri at the First Christian Church Parsonage.
She graduated from Shelbina, Missouri High School, lettering for four years on the girls’ basketball team. She was awarded an American Cancer Association Scholarship for nursing, but was unable to accept because of financial constraint.
She was employed at Kroger and Tillet’s Cafe while in high school, and also ran a St. Louis Post Dispatch paper route. After She was married, she worked for A&P, Sylvania, Target and Northwest Fabric.
Rosalee enjoyed playing bridge, playing rummy with her grandchildren, camping, canoeing,biking, fishing for trout and bass, traveling, cruising on large ships and visiting our national parks.
In addition to her Claude, survivors include her daughter Cathy Frisbee and son Matthew Frisbee, both of Burlington, Iowa; son Beryl (Gene) Frisbee of Houston, Texas; brother Buddy Richards of Shelbina, Missouri; seven grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her son Edward Frisbee, her parents, her sister Carolyn Fontenot, her brother Paul Richards, and one granddaughter.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Prugh-Thielen Funeral Home. No visitation or services are planned. Cremation has been entrusted to the Prugh Crematory.

Mr. Kermit Eugene Rice, 91, of Burlington, died at 5:25 a.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House.
Born July 2, 1930 in Kingston, IA, he was the son of John Louis and Vera May (Vicksell) Rice Sr. He married Judy Ann Kerr on July 1, 1968.
Kermit worked as a supervisor over the printing department for National Research Bureau in Burlington. He then worked as a printer and in maintenance at Alaniz & Sons in Mt. Pleasant. After retiring at the age of 67, he went back to work as a mobile home installer, later the head of maintenance for J.C. Penney, and after the closing of that store, at Fareway Grocery, retiring at age 90.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. His hobbies included mushrooming, visiting the timber and growing strawberries. He loved his birds and feeding turkeys, deer, and other wildlife.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Judy A. Rice of Burlington; four children, Diana (Don) Altimus of Mediapolis, IA, Duane (Kate) Rice of Elk River, MN, Robin (Roger) Nevling of Monmouth, IL, and Lisa (Dave) Patrick of Wapello, IA; two daughters-in-law, Jeanette Rice of Mt. Pleasant and Keri Rice of Eldridge, IA; eleven grandchildren, Felica (Jeff), Chad, Kitt, Savannah (Sean), Andrew, Patrick, Megan, Abigail, Jodi (Cody), Aundrea (Blair), Skyy, Matthew, and Macoy; five great-grandchildren, Nikolas, AJ, Cruse, Axton, and Jagger; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very special couple, Tom and Sue.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Kermit David Rice and Mark Rice; one grandson, Andrew; three sisters, Catherine, Evelyn, and Annabelle; and one brother, John Jr.
The funeral service for Mr. Rice will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 18th at Lunning Chapel. Pastors Ryan Cosgrove and Dean Graber will officiate. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of service, where the family will receive friends.
According to his wishes, cremation will be entrusted to Lunning Chapel following the services.

Joanne Carol Mauer, 83, of Burlington, died at 3:11 PM Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born July 13, 1938, in Omaha, NE, she was the daughter of Joseph and Martha Wahl Bruner. On May 27, 1961, she married Bill Lee Mauer in Omaha, NE. He passed on December 7, 2000.
She graduated from South Omaha High School.
Joanne was the co-owner of Five Flags before her retirement.
She was an avid reader and the occasional crossword. She enjoyed music, gardening and going to the casino. She was always up for a challenge. Joanne loved spending time with her family and was affectionately known as “momo” and “mojo” by her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Brent (Michele) Mauer of Mediapolis; daughter, Lisa Mauer of Burlington; grandchildren, Anna Woodward, Darby McCormick, Kellsie Goldman, and Jamie Mauer; five great-grandchildren and two on the way; and brother, Russ Bruner of Nebraska.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Lyla.
Visitation will be from noon until 4:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.
A private family burial will be in Hawkeye Cemetery.

Myron Vernon Schulz (Sonny), 91, of Burlington, IA, passed on to eternity on October 11, 2021. He was born on February 10, 1930, to Myron and Opal (Hillyard) Schulz. He married Dorothy Wagenbach on July 14, 1950. He was baptized on November 22, 1964, and was a faithful member of the Oakville and Burlington Apostolic Christian Churches.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, parents, brother Donny (Evelyn), sister Thelma (Richard) Siegle, daughter-in-law Karen (Lanz) Schulz, and 3 great grandchildren.
He is survived by one sister, Velma (Rollan) Scheitlin, five children: Gary (Melody) Schulz, Roger (June) Schulz, Janette Schulz, Lorna (Brian) Knapp, all of Burlington, and Peggy (Victor) Jevremov of Escondido, California, 30 grandchildren and 58 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be at Lunning Chapel on Friday, October 15 from 5-8 pm and at the Burlington Apostolic Christian Church before the funeral from 9-9:45 am on Saturday, October 16. The funeral is at 10:00. All are welcome to attend.
