Springfield, Ill.-  Illinois State Police have warned motorists about possible traffic flow issues related to truck convoys moving through the state.

TV Station WICS reports that the convoy, known as the “Peoples Convoy” is part of a demonstration protesting COVID-19 mandates.  The group is running from the west coast to Washington DC and is expected to pass through Illinois on Tuesday.

Illinois State Police remind residents to be mindful of increased traffic congestion in order to prevent traffic delays and traffic crashes. Motorists are encouraged to pay close attention to their surroundings and obey traffic laws while driving and to share the roadways

“Illinois State Troopers are dedicated to ensuring the motoring public is safe, including those traveling through Illinois as part of a peaceful protest,” stated ISP Division of Patrol Colonel Margret McGreal.
