
Carthage, Ill.- Illinois State Police have identified the man who was killed in an officer-involved shooting in Hancock County.
The ISP has identified the suspect as 31-year-old Timothy Ostrander of Muscatine, Iowa.
According to a news release, Hancock County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person on Wednesday, July 13th. During their interaction with Ostrander, he entered the first responding officer’s patrol vehicle and held the officer at gunpoint.
The officer exited the vehicle and exchanged gunfire with Ostrander.
A short pursuit then ensued, which ended with an exchange of gunfire between the officers and Ostrander near US Route 136 and Hancock County Road 2500 East.
Ostrander was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time later.
