
Macomb, Ill.- Western Illinois University officials broke ground on a new performing arts center in Macomb on Friday, October 7th.
TV Station WQAD reports that the new 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility will include expanded spacing for students and allow them to learn in one location.
The building will also include a 900-seat theatre, which will provide performance space for theatre, music, and dance as well as touring performances.
A majority of the costs for the over $100 million project are being funded by the State of Illinois.
Illinois governor JB Pritzker announced $119 million in state funding for the project during the event.
