Des Moines, IA- A Story County man has been sentenced to 5 years in prison after pleading guilty to Possession of Child Pornography.
On Thursday, November 10th, 22-year-old Halston Ray Van Westen of Story City was sentenced to 5 years in prison for Possession of Child Pornography.
According to court documents, on October 8th, 2021, Van Westen knowingly possessed visual depictions of child pornography, including 390 images and 290 videos.
Van Westen knew that the depictions were of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct, the depictions included minors under the age of 12, and the depictions had been shipped in interstate or foreign commerce by any means including by computer.
Van Westen used his cell phone to commit the crime.
