Mount Pleasant, IA- The Iowa Department of Public Safety has identified the Henry County Sheriff’s Deputy that shot a Mount Pleasant woman in the arm on December 3rd.
TV Station KTVO reports that Henry County Deputy Carlos Lopez is the one who shot the suspect, Samantha Shumaker in the arm Saturday.
Lopez is remaining on Critical Incident Leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
Authorities were dispatched Saturday, December 3rd, to a residence in Mount Pleasant for reports of domestic abuse where Shumaker was holding a man at gunpoint.
Shumaker was seen brandishing a firearm in the direction of Law Enforcement and her boyfriend during the incident.
Lopez fired a shot at Shumaker, striking her in the arm, after she refused officer’s orders to put the gun down.
