Davenport, IA- A Davenport man was sentenced Wednesday, January 25th to seven years in federal prison for possessing a firearm as a felon.
35-year-old Derik Ashley Otero was sentenced to 7 years in federal prison for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
According to court documents and evidence presented at trial, in June of 2020, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a wanted person in possession of a firearm in a home in Oxford.
Officers found Otero in that home with a stolen nine-millimeter Smith & Wesson handgun with an extended magazine, which Otero tried to conceal in the air vent of the bathroom.
