West Burlington man, Quincy woman arrested following a traffic stop

Carthage, Ill.-  The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of two individuals resulting from a traffic stop.

According to a news release, on Friday, February 10th, at about 11:20 PM a Hancock County Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle on Illinois Highway 96 at the Adams County line for a speeding violation.

The driver, 52-year-old Anthony Baker of West Burlington was found to have a revoked driver’s license, as well as a warrant for his arrest in Henderson County, Ill.  The passenger in the vehicle, 41-year-old Shasta Schenk of Quincy, Ill., originally provided a false name to the deputy. Schenk was found to have warrants for her arrest in Adams County, IL, and a non-extraditable warrant in Mohave County, AZ.

A Sheriff’s Office K9 also had alerted on the vehicle, and a subsequent search of the vehicle yielded a hypodermic syringe with suspected methamphetamine inside of it, and a digital scale with suspected methamphetamine on it.

Baker and Schenk were both arrested and transported to the Hancock County Jail.
